Sustainability & Animal Welfare

We operate almost entirely on solar energy in summer and actively plant trees and wildflowers to support local wildlife. We have a very plump resident pheasant and his wife.  We also rescue and care for animals, including our office assistants, Harrison & Millie (our standard poodles) who worked for 12 years and 6 years until they left us very suddenly in May 2026.   Saffy, an adorable black standard  poodle, joined the team shortly afterwards - she came from a breeding hoarding situation where 70 poodles were kept in dreadful conditions.  Rescued by a standard poodle charity, we were able to adopt her, she is 6 years old and never been outdoors till now.  She is proving very adaptable and learning the ropes.  Our horse herd includes bilingual Suze and her daughter, Suze’s Surprise, both from France and saved from a one way journey to an abattoir in Italy.  In 2026 they were joined by Lily and Zak, two adorable donkeys who were in a bad situation.

We also regularly host hen rehoming days, helping retired egg-laying hens find new homes instead of being replaced and discarded—giving them the chance to enjoy their well-deserved retirement.
